“Hieperdepiep hoera” (heeper di peep hoorah) is their Hip Hip Hooray. !!

On Sunday the kids & I went to church. There was some interesting history & geology stuff around the verses from Revelation 3,

14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Hierapolis – hot springs. Colossae – cold clear water from the mountains. Laodicea: tepid.

Rather than a call for christians to feel inadequate, it was interpreted as a call to have a vision & a purpose for the church. It was good.

We are thinking of trying out the 10am Sunday Service. I enjoy the 12noon one currently, as we all have a lie-in and there are hardly any kids! Apparently the 10am is jam packed with thousands of ppl & kids. Fred will be in some kind of sunday school and Jojo will sit with older teens group in the sermon. They both want to give it a try.

Lee got me some tulips and chocs.

Then I had invited all of my housegroup plus Carla to come eat between 4-8pm for my birthday. I made a lot of chicken enchiladas, rice & salad. I asked people to bring a plate of food. So, 5 people came. V made me a cake, G brought apple cake & a present  – some colourful yarn! Carla brought me an orchid, and E&A brought a big bowl of pasta salad & a bottle of red wine. It was little bit quiet & awkward initially, there was 1 Russian, 3 Dutch and 1 from Singapore. It’s quite funny seeing a group of dutch people all talking English to each other. They are very confident. Also there was a bit when they were gabbing away in very fast Dutch. Carla spoke a lot more than usual – cos it was in Dutch – and I caught a bit of her interesting life history – born on a naval ship, and being taken to school by plane each day when she lived on a little island! Upon entering, Carla did the dutch birthday thing of congratulating every member of the family upon my birthday. But everyone else was expat (or married to one) so we did quite normal greetings. We talked about the

So it was nice, there was plenty of food and we had a laugh. And my family got to meet some of my lifegroup people.

Beforehand I had a bit of anxiety, I haven’t done anything like this for ages, and I had various issues swirling around my head. I lay down & prayed of course but I could feel my heart beat was a bit off. What a palaver! Anyway my birthday is done, and it was lovely. Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes & gifts which have arrived in my bank!

Oh yes, also they mentioned my birthday in Gateway Church, back in Liverpool!
