Willem, Maxima & the gang’s annual summer photo sesh!
I coughed all night so I didn’t go to church to cough over the sermon. Lee and I cycled over De Kwakel, then back up the Amstel to Uithoorn.
De Kwakel is so pretty! But note the house top left, with massive gorillas on the balcony!! (That’s in Uithoorn)
Uithoorn aan de Amstel was buzzin’ with holidaymakers and groups of serious cyclists. We had a cold drink there. It’s absolutely gorgeous round ‘ere!
I woke to a message from Hans saying he can’t move us on wed afternoon/evening after all, and could only do a couple of hours tonight. He isn’t someone who feels free to let people down, so I knew he didn’t want to send this message!
I didn’t want to hear it either! So I gave it to my Lord and cycled off in the boiling sunshine to my prayer-for-BSF meeting.
Past this cornfield!
It was only 3 of us, and I can’t exactly remember why, but there was a lot of tears! Well we barely know each other, but we sure do love each other! And then we cycled over to Amstelveen old town, where my pals haven’t been before, cos they live in central Amsterdam. And had lunch. It was lovely. Then I cycled home, in my new straw hat, it was 29°! Utterly boiled.
Lee had got the new house keys off Jasper, but the house is by no means ready! The kitchen and bathroom are complete, but no toilet downstairs, and some doors need replacing. No biggie!
So Carla came, we took a few boxes and popped them in the garage, and met an elderly neighbour, possibly called Jaques, like the French. He was there since 1974. His front door is opposite my back gate. He was friendly and spoke in English though I had started in Dutch.
Then we ate and I had quite frankly finished coping. we asked Julia if she could help out with her horse box, and she will next week – we can’t really put stuff in the house til the further work is done. I got the big fan down from the girls bedroom. Then Hans came and with Lee took some big furniture on the trailer.
The downstairs space, “woonkamer” in the new house seems to be wider and bigger than what we have now. Is that possible? Anyway I’m jolly excited about it.
